In To Fireworks by Chambaland “In Too Deep” by Genesis vs. “Firework” by Katy Perry
Cleaning up my iTunes, I forgot that did this about a few months back as a B-Side for a scrapped physical release of “Invisible Gurls.” Kinda muddy- could never really get the track to where I wanted it, but hey.
A great tribute to John Lennon on his upcoming 70th birthday (tomorrow!), from the wonderful covers blog, Cover Lay Down. Features tracks from Damien Rice, Regina Spektor, Jack Johnson, Allison Crowe, and more…
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for 20 years, you’ve probably been (over)exposed to Cyndi Lauper’s schmaltzy ballad “Time After Time”. Well, our good friend MémoireD’amour went ahead and covered it, and it’s probably the strangest thing I’ve heard all week. What’s most surprising is not that it’s Cyndi Lauper cover, but that it sounds nothing like MémoireD’amour. Sure, there’s the typical hazy vocals and reverb wash, but the bouncy synths on tracks like “Buttterfly Nurse” have been replaced with softly looping strings. Interesting to say the least. We can only hope for a Céline Dion cover in the future.
Derezzed remixed by NTEIBINT originally by Daft Punk
So, about 20-seconds of Daft Punk’s score for Disney’s upcoming Tron: Legacy “leaked” out a couple weeks ago, and in no time, NTEIBINT has turned that 20-seconds into a 4-minute light-cycle ride. Is it December yet? —NJ
