Diagnosis: DOPE. Los Angeles-based remixologist and beatmaker Doctor Rosen Rosen has been featured here on Copy Cats a few times before, and he just keeps on cranking out the goods. You can download this remix, and many other prescriptions from the good doctor, from his blog. —NJ
It’s amazing how easy it is pretend (sorry…) that the lyrical content of this track isn’t pessimistic and depressing when listening to MGMT’s original. But with this somber piano version and Jónsi’s vocal stylings… man does this hit you as a big downer — but a beautiful one. I’m sure we’ll hear this at the end of a really dramatic episode of ‘House’ or ‘Gossip Girl’ or something. — Andy
In case you’re tired of “Drunk Girls” in This Is Happening form, LCD Soundystem city/labelmates Holy Ghost! have given it some vocal-submerging layers, including drums from the late Jerry Fuchs. Click thte link to stream from Holy Ghost!’s website.
More Than Words by Kid Sister originally by Extreme (posted by Nathaniel James)
I took a double take when I realized that the woman behind this stripped-down cover of Extreme’s classic was the same Kid Sister who dropped the club banger “Pro Nails” on us. Not only is this a nice cover, characterized by sparse harmonies with her friend, Kerin Rose, but it’s sort of fun to hear Kid Sis let loose toward the middle of the song.
Check out more of Chi-town’s own Kid Sister at her website. —NJ
EDIT: My file host has been acting up lately, so I updated the link. Hopefully, the file should play properly.
Click the link above to purchase this single from iTunes, as the net proceeds from its sale will go toward the Emergency Relief Fund of the international independent medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders.
— *editors note: I have deleted our earlier post of this and replaced it with this link, as this track has been released for charity and while in theory you can only stream from our site, it was suggested to us that perhaps we shouldn’t post it. I agree, so here you are, a link, to a cover, for a good cause. —IndieAndyy
