Bad Religion’s been around for 30 years, which means they’re older than your Facebook. To honor the Southern California punks, MySpace and SPIN have joined “forces” to present Germs of Perfection: A Tribute to Bad Religion. The first song they’re offering is the Quin’s take on the 1998 fight song “Suffer,” the title track from Greg Graffin & Co.’s third collection.

A mashup of Sufjan Stevens’ “Chicago” and Coldplay’s “Clocks”. Well, not exactly a mashup— it’s literally the two tracks layered over each other, with minimal alterations (key, tempo). Be warned: I can’t listen to the originals anymore; they sound too empty. They are half-songs. (That’s a joke.)
I had to go to another office today to do an audit. With worksheets and a pen, no computer. It was scheduled for today and tomorrow, but we finished it in about 5 hours.
It’s amazing how much work I can get done with no distractions. But most of the time there’s no need in the day to day job. That seems stupid right? But that’s corporate America. There’s no benefit to me busting my ass everyday, so I don’t.
By now, I’m sure you’ve all heard about the super-wonderful Collaborationstape curated by our friends at Dead as Digital, The Road Goes Ever On, and Stadiums and Shrines. It’s the product of a lot of hard work between some pretty great artists (Teen Daze, Closed Cassette, Ghost Animal, to name a few) so go and grab yourself one if you haven’t already (its only $6!). Mike from D.A.D. was kind enough to shoot us a promo copy, which I’ve been slowly spacing out to while putting off an English paper.
Weed and Foxes in Fiction’s cover of “Teenage Dream” has quickly become a favorite, namely because a) it features two incredibly talented people and b) it’s a Katy Perry cover. Not only is it pretty faithful to the original (yes, I actually brought myself to listen to it) but hearing Anderson and Hildebrand deliver those lyrics with a straight face is something to behold. Excellent work all around, folks!

DJ Bahler freshened up an album I love, but the internet quickly made tired. Listen to more of his Passion Pit mashup album, aptly named Mashin’ Pit, over on Soundcloud; if you like it, add it to your library.
BUY THE 7”: For those who can’t make the show, you can get those new Hood Internet/Kid Static tracks on vinyl or digitally at our Bandcamp page. If you missed the video for “Chi City” check it out here.
